Prolux worked alongside Geyer Valmont to deliver a complete, modern office fit-out in one of Brisbane's A-Grade commercial office buildings.

Works completed:

Power & Data
Full installation of power and data infrastructure to support open-plan workstations, enclosed offices and breakout areas. This included structured cabling systems, floor boxes and distribution boards to provide flexible future-proof connectivity.

Lighting
Supply and installation of modern, low glare energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the tenancy. Lighting design was tailored to provide both functionality and aesthetics, ensuring compliance with standards while enhancing the workspace environment.

Exit & Emergency Systems
Installation and commissioning of compliant exit and emergency lighting systems in accordance with AS2293 requirements, ensuring occupant safety and regulatory compliance.

Integration with Architectural Fit-Out
Electrical works were delivered seamlessly alongside Geyer Valmont’s high-end architectural design, with careful attention to detail in areas such as the breakout kitchen, meeting rooms, and open-plan office space.

Key Outcome:

The project was successfully delivered on time and to specification, providing Centuria and its tenants with a modern, functional and safe workplace environment.

Jacobs engineering is a global consultancy firm with hundreds of offices worldwide. Their services include engineering, technical, construction delivery, as well as scientific and specific consulting to their global clients in the private and government sectors.

Prolux was engaged by Axiom to assist with a complete workstation refurbishment, installation of five new meeting rooms, meeting pods and a refurbished breakout area.

The project had the specific challenge of working around an existing partially demolished and existing refurbished fit-out. Prolux worked seamlessly integrating the new equipment into the already existing equipment onsite. The C-Bus lighting required specific controllers and devices to link to the new DALI system with the existing Digital Serial Interface (DSI). The structured DATA cabling was re-purposed where possible, communications rooms were cleaned and realigned and minor adjustments were made to the Clevertronics Single Point System.

Prolux worked closely with Axiom to deliver this project on time in the designated two month time frame.

*The building boasts a 5.5 Star NABERS Environmental rating, along with a 4.5 Star NABERS Energy rating.

E&P Financial Group Office Fit-out

E&P Financial Group is an ASX listed business that delivers financial services across wealth management, corporate advisor, institutional sales and trading and research.

Prolux were engaged to complete a multi-level office fit-out consisting of a work station area refresh and complete back-of-house renovation; featuring 20 meeting rooms of varying sizes and large training room across levels 9 and 10.

Key installations included a fully integrated C-Bus lighting control system, CMS soft wiring, Famco Monitored Emergency & Exit Lighting System and a CommScope Shielded Cat6A structured cabling system.

Despite facing challenges such as tighter-than-usual deadlines and a lighting supplier change at the infancy stages of the project, Prolux worked closely with Axiom and Trend Lighting to successfully deliver the architectural lighting on this fit-out.

The project spanned over five months from February to June of 2024, with a staged approach having Level 9 fully completed before commencing Level 10.

Our recent LED lighting upgrade to the Woolworths Distribution Centre has reduced the overall power consumption by a massive 30,550W per hour.

How did we achieve this?

A total of 79 existing old 1000W metal halide pole mounted floodlights were replaced with new 250W LEDs. These lights are typically on 10 hours per day, so this is a significant energy reduction. Light output has also been greatly improved.

Prolux replaced the following old external light fittings for new LED fittings under the government VEET rebate.

VC Systems engaged Prolux to work in alongside with them in providing a state-of-the-art audio visual package for Heritage Bank, located in Brisbane City’s iconic business district.

The AV fit-out included the installation of integrated video conferencing equipment and cameras, projectors and projector screens, the installation of speakers throughout the entire level and commission of the video conference system to the new office building at Eagle Street.

The completed project has provided the client with modern audio visual equipment suitable for presenting on large LED screens with video conferencing capabilities and network integration across multiple meeting rooms, including a dedicated Zoom room which allows for wireless screen sharing, making meetings as seamless as possible.

Prolux brought this huge condemned warehouse at Clayton Business Park back to life.

The factory at Building 4 spans an impressive 54,000m2, but had been left dormant for several years. It was unknow that one of the HV substations feeding the building was inoperable due to water egress within. This lead to 90% of the building to be rewired and with traces of asbestos found within the building itself, the method of installation wasn’t straight forward. Prolux were able to work within the correct guidelines to safely complete the project within a 3 week time frame.

The initial site visit commenced with design and consultation to facilitate the provision of Preliminary Plans for emergency and exit lighting; over 190 exit and emergency lights were installed, including test switches to switchboards as required.

The warehouse electrical rewiring was completed to facilitate the LED upgrade of over 300 LED High bay lights, including catenary cable support and a new switchboard to ensure the safe installation of additional lighting circuits.

Upgrading the existing switchboard infrastructure to meet current AS3000 Standards and the client’s national RCD roll-out program was priority; in total nine new switchboards were installed along with several hundred RCBO’s.

Kmart first made ‘low prices irresistible’ to Australian’s when they opened their first department store in Victoria, back in 1969. That was the beginning of this renowned Aussie icon that now has more than 200 stores across Australia and New Zealand and is recognised as one of the most profitable discount outlets in Australia.

Their Victorian distribution warehouse located in Melbourne’s West covers a massive 14 hectares, with a floor area spanning 77000m2. This prime logistics facility located within a premier industrial logistics centre is a fully-serviced warehouse together with four separate office and amenity areas.

As part of Kmart’s commitment to sustainable development, they have taken steps to minimise their environmental footprint by upgrading their inefficient lighting to highly efficient LED lights; over 1,400 new lights have been installed:

Daimler Trucks Laverton is one of Australia’s largest dealerships who stock a range of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and quality used vehicles, including new trucks ranging from 2 to 140 tonne, light duty trucks and prime movers and quality used vehicles of all makes and models. Their state-of-the-art service centre located in Laverton North specialises in customised truck body building solutions and supplies genuine Mercedes-Benz parts.

Following an appraisal, Prolux identified that by installing new LED lighting that a savings of close to $71k p.a. could be achieved through the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) Program, and in addition a 74.7% reduction in energy consumption. Prolux recommended removing the old Vivid Lighting System that was currently installed and installing new 110 watt LED High Bay with 18,400 lumens.

The new LED lighting installation consisted of upgrading to the following lights:

Offices: NOVA LED Panel Lights / VENUS Batten Lights
Warehouse: JUNO LED Battens / PHOENIX High Bays – Motion Sensors. The new lights installed have an inbuilt sensor which can be controlled and set individually with a remote from ground level, which allows for setting longer sensing modes if required.

Chr. Hansen is an international bioscience company that develop natural solutions for the food, nutritional, pharmaceutical and agricultural industries. Their continual aim is in reducing the use of chemicals and other synthetic additives, by producing ‘good bacteria’ in a variety of foods, confectionery, beverages, dietary supplements, animal feed and plant protection.

Prolux were engaged to provide and install the electrical components to the office fit-out for their Australian headquarters. Town Square is Eastland’s al-fresco meeting place where grand experiences, lunch stops and pre-movie hangouts sit comfortably alongside one another. Located in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburb of Ringwood, it brings together bar culture, the finest produce of its region amongst the culinary flair of leading chefs and Maroondah City Council’s Realm; library, cultural and innovative centre in one location.

In May 2019 Eastland engaged UAP Company to deliver a stylish, all-weather mirrored glass canopy screening in Town Square, with integrated heating and lighting. The introduction of the canopy allows visitors the opportunity to dine outdoors at any of the 13 eateries within Town Square and have protection from the elements, all year round. The lighting installation will improve upon security and ambiance for shoppers and diners after dark.

Major works completed by Prolux for the project included the installation of the heater control panels and switches, building management system cabling for the house boards to each tenancy, new lighting circuits, new protective devices in tenancy switchboards for heater circuits, DALI lighting control, ECD ducting, recessed mounted heaters in new canopies (complete with isolators), supply and installation of LED down lights and security lighting. The nature of this job meant that Prolux got to work under the pavement when installing the cabling for the heaters and lighting.

Prolux have successfully completed an emergency and exit lighting upgrade to the building’s common stairwells. The lighting installation has been designed to comply with AS 2293.1 & AS/NZS 3000:2018.

Works included the removal and replacement of the existing exit and emergency light fittings, along with the supply and installation of occupancy sensors, wall mounted motion sensors to passage and basement and non-emergency lights hard wired to emergency monitoring.

Recycling of all old light fittings and preparation for VEET rebate was provided.

Prolux were engaged by Buildline to complete the electrical fit-out for three separate Crunch Fitness Gyms in Hoppers Crossing, Epping and Springvale.

Each of the construction sites were initially a cold shell with an existing three phase supply.

Works consisted of:

Switchboard installations
Lighting
Power
Data and communications
Floor boxes for power to centrally located gym equipment
CAT6 data cabling
AV wiring from floor boxes to TV’s
C-Bus lighting control with touch screen
SAL LED lighting panels; for use in the large open areas (suspended with stainless steel suspension kits)
All works were split between the gym floor, training rooms, bathrooms, reception, meeting rooms and offices.

Prolux worked in with the client to offer different options and scopes prior to the commencement of works. Crunch Fitness decided on a Sunny Australia Lighting (SAL) lighting package, which worked seamlessly with the design.

Issues incorporated power for the treadmills having to be wired in dedicated circuits back to the switchboard for warranty purposes; As the treadmills were in the middle of the open floor special floor duct had to be designed and implemented for the installation of the GPO’s.

The timelines for each gym was eight weeks, with a tight deadline of five weeks for the Springvale gym, due to issues with the property development. Springvale was the largest of the fit-outs, with the construction of their Victorian office headquarters boardroom located here. That being said, the job was brought in on time.

The Cross Yarra Partnership (a consortium led by Lendlease Engineering, John Holland, Bouygues Construction and Capella Capital) has been chosen to build Melbourne’s new $11 billion Metro Tunnel.

With the commencement of the Metro Tunnel, Prolux were contracted to undertake works for the partnership consisting of data network office fit-outs (CAT6 data cabling, Krone certified) at 80 Collins St for levels 8, 31 and 32, along with fibre structured cabling to levels 10 through to 31 and 32.

The end-to-end rail line will run from Sunbury in the west to Cranbourne/Pakenham in the south-east, with five new underground stations at Arden (North Melbourne), Parkville, CBD North, CBD South and Domain (St Kilda Road).

The world-class urban design that will showcase new high capacity trains. is due for completion in 2026.

Rod Laver Arena | Pre-Construction Electrical Works

Early 2016 saw the commencement of the Rod Laver Arena upgrade and new extensions, with completion in 2020. Rod Laver Arena remained operational throughout the refurbishment.

Prolux were contracted to perform Stage 1 works for Lend Lease at Rod Laver Arena for the front entry redevelopment. Works entailed, relocating the merchandise and ticket sales cubicles and the turnstiles to make way for the redevelopment to the front of Rod Laver Arena. These works included:

Disconnection of all power supplies to each cubicle including, fibre cabling and data cabling
Installation of new fibre and sub mains to the relocated cubicles
Installation of underground conduits, for reticulated cabling and future cabling
Installation of new LED flood lighting for the large display banners for upcoming events
Installation of temporary switchboards, lighting and emergency and exit lighting to the new temporary office and site sheds
Installation of all wiring for the temporary site office, including data and power to workstations (to accommodate all of the office staff for the rest of the stages)
Installation of a comms rack and fitting off all data to the comms rack
Installation of driveway and car park lighting
3 Phase power outlets for pop-up food and beverage location.

The Rod Laver Arena upgrade was part of the $338 million second stage of the Melbourne Park redevelopment, which further enhanced Melbourne’s world class sporting precinct. Other elements of Stage 2 included a pedestrian bridge over Batman Avenue and a new eight storey Media Building that provides media and broadcast facilities for the Australian Open.

Melbourne Park hosts over 200 events a year, providing $421 million in economic benefit to the State and creating 3,140 FTE jobs.

The refurbishment amounts to the first major construction work to take place at Rod Laver Arena since it first opened to the Victorian public in 1988.

Prolux have delivered another quality fitout, this time for Cornerstone Health in Cranbourne. Works comprised of lighting, data cabling network installation, Krone certified data and access control.

Light fittings throughout the centre included external pole mounted lighting, exit and emergency lighting installation (incorporating push buttons, timers, contactors and labels within Distribution Boards), x-ray warning light fittings (including extra low voltage control circuits), universal phase control dimming and selected internal lighting control integrated to a Security System/Access Control System. Occupancy sensors were also included for efficient lighting control.

Krone certified data and body protected areas were installed for the pharmacy, physio, dental, x-ray, pathology and allied health areas, along with integrated CAT6 data cabling (including consolidation frames, data patch panels, voice patch panels and cable management). Prolux carried out their own independent inspection and testing of the entire connection of electrical equipment, including x-ray generator units and radiology PDU’s.

Restroom installation of hand dryers and connectivity of the disabled toilet alerting system (including push button, indicating light, sounder and custom engraved white plates), along with a powerful time-tracking software Kronos InTouch clock, located within the hub of the healthcare centre were all part of the electricial fitout.

A Master Antenna Television System (MATV) consisting of digital antenna, amplifier, splitters, wall mounted outlets and fly leads, along with all general power outlets and dedicated sub-circuits, (including residual current devices) on all final power sub circuits was provided and installed by Prolux.

Christ Church Grammar School approached Prolux in 2016 with their plans for refurbishing part of the historic building in which they resided. Their desire was to incorporate more welcoming, efficient office spaces, comprising of three small offices, a hallway entrance and reception area, whilst complementing the architecture that makes the grand building what it is.

This fitout was one of the more trickier projects to complete. Consideration had to be taken into account regarding the building’s age and working conditions – limited access to ceiling space and little to no room under the floor to run in new cables and services was apparent.

Together, Prolux and By Design strategised ways in how to run the required cables and in-turn make it an easier process for future provisions. They did this by running 50mm conduits where required, some ceilings and walls were exposed.

The scope of works included lighting, power and data, with a 25 year Krone certified warranty. From the recessed LED track light installed down the hallway, to the hanging LED extrusions, the finished product complemented the older style look of the building, giving a touch of modern day character, and in particular lighting up the entrance to the school.

The electrical office fitout took a duration of two weeks to complete.

Prolux Electrical Contractors are pleased to announce the completion of another successful electrical office fitout, this one for global property and investment guru Cushman and Wakefield, at 385 Bourke St, Melbourne.

Prolux completed all electrical works over two seperate levels (level 8 & level 9), consisting of installation of power, T.V and audio visual wiring (AV), along with Krone CAT6 data cabling, complete with a 25 year warranty.

A full programmable lighting system using state of the art Dynalite equipment was installed, with specialised LED extrusion lighting having to be carefully measured, colour coded and installed to fit within the specially designed feature grid ceiling that complimented the neat finishes of the reception and dining room areas. Emergency lighting and common area lighting for the lifts was also carried out for the building’s lighting installation.

A beautifully designed hand rail running the entire length of the office’s staircase which combines the two levels, showcases an LED light with seamless lines for a flawless finish.

Both levels together totaled an area of 2600m2. The electrical fitout took a duration of 20 weeks to complete, with Prolux Electrical more than happy with the end result, an appealing, modern office work space.

The formation of DBXB necessitated a new office space on St Kilda Road in Melbourne. Their long-term growth strategy is to focus on business to business commercial solutions, providing ongoing support, development and maintenance to the customers of business-critical platforms, including customer risk and debt collection solutions.

Prolux were the contracted electrician to provide installation of lighting, office power and data to all workstations, including a Clipsal Certified Cat6 Data Solution. This system provides the customer with a fantastic value proposition, as the product utilises lead frame technology, delivering reliability above other PCB products. The system is designed to operate up to 250Mhz, offering a solution for horizontal cabling, and backbone cabling if required. This solution includes data cable, patch panels and cabling, modular jacks as well as face-plates and cable management.

The electrical office fit-out was completed within a six week time frame for the financial sector company.

Paragon Care is a distinguished provider of acute and aged care hospital equipment. Expansion within the organisation saw an immediate need to upgrade their staff to new offices and provide valuable workspace for their employees. Prolux was engaged by Bowen Interiors to complete the electrical office fit-out for the new offices located in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburb of Scoresby, encompassing main office workstations, showroom, factory warehouse and rear office building.

Commercial electrician, Prolux, provided complete power and data solutions to create a flexible work environment, including extensive soft wiring, allowing for future growth of this client’s ever expanding workforce.

Fibre optical backbone cabling was installed throughout the office complex and warehouse to provide high-speed data solutions (Internet, phone lines and multimedia networking), utilising VoIP. Installation of this backbone cabling system was done to ensure that the client’s current needs were met, along with anticipation for future growth and prospective applications.

The lighting design focused on efficient lighting solutions, with the installation of LED High-bays throughout the industrial warehouse, along with power and data aligned to remote bench-tops. The project was completed within a two-month period.

Prolux Electrical Contractors was engaged to complete the electrical fit-out at DEXUS Place in Bourke Street, Melbourne. The existing shell prior to the commercial fit-out was set-up with new Dynalite lighting control, with the provision for new DALI lighting installation. Prolux expanded the existing Dynalite system throughout the entire 14th level office floor, with installation of new DALI dimmable track lighting, pendant lighting, fluorescent lighting and LED strip lighting.

Power for AV was supplied via an UPS unit, which was installed into the communications room. All exit and emergency lighting was self-monitored, tying in with the existing base building and the power supply capacity was increased from 100 amps to 160 amps for all of the supplementary air conditioning units installed. Data cabling and data communications was also provided and installed to all workstations, meeting rooms and alike.

DEXUS Property Group are rolling out interactive suites throughout Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, with the potential being to expand these suites across more of their properties nationally, over the next few years. These interactive suites are both being utilised by the tenants within the buildings and also outside businesses wanting to take advantage of the on-call, premium meeting, training and conference spaces, conveniently located in prime CBD space. Local meetings, international conferences, business presentations, entertaining and showcasing can all be accommodated in the elite office premises.

The project was completed within a 9 week time frame.

The Department of Environment and Primary Industries entailed a complete office fit-out within a newly completed building. Prolux Electrical Contractors completed the commercial project for a government client in a five week period, consisting of providing a CAT6 Structured Cabling System, switchboard upgrade to provide metering for the new tenant and alterations to the existing lighting configuration and switching to suit layout.

Dimensional, located on Collins Street in Melbourne’s CBD have seen the interior of their offices transformed, with modernised, high quality finishes to reflect their brand.

Prolux were contracted to undertake the five week office fit-out, consisting of the rearrangement of existing base building lights, installation of new feature lighting, reprograming of KNX lighting control system to suit the new lighting layout, data and communications, wiring, data cabling (CAT6) and power connection for all new offices, workstations, front of house receptions and seating areas, kitchenette and printing area, meeting rooms, board rooms, along with power, light switches and sensors for all areas.

Prolux Electrical installed all new emergency and exit lighting, i-Automation sensors and fittings, audio visual installation for five conference rooms: with a architecture design for colour tuneable. LED strip lighting was recessed into the timber paneling of the wall and ceiling to give this prestigious financial institution clean finishes. The pendant lighting installed created stylish centre pieces; spectacular looking against the backdrop of the city’s skyscrapers, on this 24th level office building.

The Oval Pavilion located on Royal Parade had spent many years deteriorating and was no longer adequate for its purpose. The existing building was demolished, with the exception of the heritage listed turret and social room, to allow for a new, modern pavilion.

All lighting, switchboards, data and communication, along with audio visual installations were completed by Prolux Electrical Contractors, allowing for a larger function and social space along with utilising the main oval during sporting events.

University of Melbourne Sports Pavilion Development upgraded by Kane Constructions comprised of an underground change room facility, commercial kitchen, dining and function room area on the ground floor.

Works included the supply and installation of an intelligent KNX lighting control system, which integrated into the heating/cooling system and curtains/blinds to achieve a 6 star energy rating.

Working alongside many other trades, the construction of the Sports Oval Pavilion took just over 12 months to complete. Works were completed in May 2014.
